Why should my child play Desert Blaze Flag Football?

Desert Blaze Flag Football offers a safe, non-contact way for kids to learn football fundamentals while building confidence, teamwork, and athletic skills. Our league is designed for beginners and experienced players alike, making it a perfect introduction to football or a fun alternative to tackle. We focus on player development, positive coaching, and a high-energy Friday night game experience families love.

What age divisions do you offer?

Desert Blaze offers age-based divisions to ensure fair competition: • 6U • 8U • 10U • 12U • 14U • High School Girls

What is the age cut off?

August 1. Whatever age you are on August 1 is the age division you qualify for the next year. Example: if your child was 6 years old on August 1, 2025, your child would qualify for 6U for the Fall 2025, Winter 2026 & Spring 2026 seasons. 

How many players are on each team?

Teams typically roster 7–10 players. In some cases, teams may carry up to 12 players to ensure flexibility while maintaining quality playing time.

What football size is used?

6U–8U: Pee-Wee football • 10U and up: Junior football

Where are games played?

Games are played Friday nights in Queen Creek, Arizona. Field locations vary by season and are posted on the registration page once confirmed.  

How long is the season?

The Spring 2026 season includes: • 6 regular-season games • End-of-season playoffs Every team qualifies for the playoffs.

Can I request a coach or teammates?

Yes. You may request coaches and teammates during registration. Requests are honored when possible, but rosters must follow age divisions and size limits. Coaches make final roster decisions.

Is a mouthguard required?

Mouthguards are required for all games and optional for practices. They are available for purchase at the field on game days.

What is your refund policy?

Cancellations received before registration closes receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee per player. No refunds are issued after registration closes.

When and where are practices held?

Teams usually practice: • One - 2 weekday evenings or • 45–60 minutes before Friday night games Practice locations are determined by the coach. Desert Blaze provides insurance coverage.

My team doesn’t have a coach yet—what happens?

We actively recruit coaches when needed. If a coach cannot be secured, players are placed on another team or refunded.

How much playing time will my child get?

Desert Blaze encourages balanced playing time during the regular season, especially for younger and newer players. Playoffs are more competitive, and playing time may vary.

How do playoffs work?

All teams qualify. Divisions may be split into: • Blaze Division (more competitive) • Ember Division (development-focused) Seeding is based on: 1. Win-loss record 2. Head-to-head 3. Point differential

Winners of each division receive a Championship Ring

What is the weather policy?

If weather makes play unsafe, games are rescheduled to Sunday when possible. Playoff games are not rescheduled.

How will families receive updates?

League communication is sent via email and official team communication channels.

Is Desert Blaze beginner-friendly?

Yes. Desert Blaze Flag Football is welcoming to first-time players, multi-sport athletes, and kids who just want to have fun in a supportive environment.

Is this a recreational or competitive league?

Desert Blaze Queen Creek is a recreational league focused on development, sportsmanship, and fun—while still offering exciting competition.
